Only two year ago, little Samira, who suffers with C.P. could not even sit up on her own. Today with therapy provided through the CDD, she is walking unaided and can even help her mother with chores around the house- like chopping vegetables seen here!!!
I am so honoured and grateful to call myself a Photographers Without Borders Storyteller. The work that PWB does around the world in countless countries not only saves lives but, as I have actually seen here in Bangladesh gives a life, and dignity back to some of the most vulnerable. PWB projects cover a vast scope of issues facing not only developing but all nations and groups covering things like, poverty, climate change, education, healthcare, sanitation, accessibility and disability. This is but a brief summary of a fraction of work I witnessed the with the Center for Disability in Development in Bangladesh, April & May 2019. Having the honour to work for both PWB and the CDD has been the most motivational and inspiring thing I have even done in my life. One of the amazing projects I had the pleasure to have been assigned is focused on deaf children. It is incredible what we are capable of doing when given the right supports and opportunity! Watching Hanayed, 10 years old, dance gave me goose bumps!! This thanks to the hard work and dedication of CDD and her sister organizations, amazingly persistent field workers, families, communities and local governments. To say that I am inspired is an understatement!!
